Political Malpractice is Rampant in African Countries

“There is no way the poorest countries in the world can depend on living as consuming nations, hoping that year to year, they can import most of what they need and export basic commodities that will not cover their bills and then survive from one year to the other in perpetuity. It’s the worst form of political malpractice that one can find.”

Who’s to Blame for the Plight of Africa

Who’s to blame for the plight of the African continent? Who should step in and transform African economies and lift citizens out of abject poverty? The answer: Africans and African leaders.

How to Expand Intra-African Trade

For decades, African nations have talked about the importance of intra-African trade, but have overwhelmingly not yet been able to make trade throughout the continent a reality. There are real challenges that hinder intra-African trade, but they are not such a hindrance that a resolution cannot be found.

Exporting for Success

The African continent is made up of fifty-four different countries, and while there are common problems facing all of them, each country will have to tailor the strategies proffered to its unique environment in order to amplify its strengths and minimize its weaknesses. However, at the core of the concepts being discussed are proven ways to fix the issues that plague every African nation that have worked in other countries and that can be applied successfully in African countries.

In today’s episode, host John Akhile, author of Unleashed: A New Paradigm of African Trade with the World, discusses the first steps any African nation should take to figure out how to generate a flow of hard currency into its country and become an exportation-oriented country. He argues that all African nations can be successful in this way although the application may differ from country to country based on population and resources. But the key message is that every African nation can do it and find the economic prosperity each needs.

Change Makers Needed in Africa

Strong, focused leaders who are “Changemakers,” are the answer African countries need to transform their economic destiny and become powerful trading nations. Change makers exemplify Benjamin Disraeli’s quote that “nothing can stop a human will that will stake even it’s existence on it’s stated purpose.” By bringing concentrated resolve into play, leaders of African nations can tackle the myriad of challenges that face their countries. Today’s episode focuses on using export-oriented industrialization to bring about economic emancipation for African nations that choose that route.

Host, John Akhile, author of Unleashed: a New Paradigm of African Trade with the World, discusses the national and local benefits of export-oriented industrialization for citizens of African nations who turn to export production instead of import consumption. In addition to how exporting is beneficial, Akhile discusses what steps need to be taken in order to make it work as effectively as possible.
